PPWC 2015 and CoGoWriCon 2015 and More!

Back in April, I attended Pikes Peak Writer's Conference. It was a BLAST and a half. Great classes, great company, I really bonded with my critique partner, and published author, LS Hawker and her daughter. We had a great time.

The best part about the conference was the baby step I took.

As you all know, I've been writing for most of my life (I think I penciled my first story at six years old). To finally take a first step to getting my work out there was incredibly rewarding, and happened in two ways.

1. I stood up in front of a room full of people and delivered my pitch out loud into a microphone
2. I participated in an anonymous first page reading

In regard to item #1 above, my pitch was well received by the two published authors/industry specialists who were hosting the class, as well as the audience.

In regard to item #2, an editor from Ballantine books loved my first page, and even defended it when one of the other panelists said something bad about it.

OH, and I met R.L…

It takes someone else's blog post to get me back...

I've been MIA for a LOOONG time, I know. I need to be better about posting here. Build my platform. All that good stuff.

My last "real" post was in April. Holy smokes!

Anyway, I'm here because I read a blog post by J.H. Moncrieff and it rang so true to me, I had to come here and repost it. Read it here.

Soon, I will be publishing a DRAFT post I wrote back in April after Pikes Peak Writers Conference. It was an amazing conference that changed my life.

Oh the suspense, am I right?

Until then...

Peace and Keep Writing!

If you live near Roseville, CA and need a therapist...

... you should totally check out Talal Alsaleem and his Happily Ever After Retreats!

I kinda wish I lived near there so I could see him for therapy.

That is all for now! But I will totally be back soon to write about PPWC2015. I know, it's been MONTHS since the event... don't judge me!

I have some other news, too, that I wish to share, but not just yet!

Peace and Keep Writing,

Updates on everything!

Okay, maybe not EVERYTHING. But a few things that are on my mind right this minute.

1. In December, I took a 4 hours, 200 question test to obtain my PMP (Project Management Professional) credential and PASSED.

2. Work is hard, but easy, but hard, but sometimes boring, but hard. I know, weird right? I'm managing projects AND serving as the IT department admin (for 130 people). It's, like I said, hard, boring, hard, easy...

3. I still don't know what I want to do. I think I'm having an early mid-life crisis. Some days I love what I'm doing. Other days I do not and cannot see myself doing project management full time.

4. Every time I am forced to skip my lunch break, I really don't want to do project management full time (because that is my WRITING time).

5. Speaking of writing, I finished the bigger story/plot revisions for Evil Never Sleeps, and now I am doing line edits in a very lazy fashion. I submitted the first chapter to my critique group and got favorable…
